SB 243 Oregon

Ban RFAs, Regulate Concealed Carry Locations (Was: Relating to Firearm Background Checks)

SB 243 C bans rapid fire activators (RFAs) including bump stocks; allows local public entities to prohibit concealed carry license holders from bringing hidden guns into public buildings; and creates an implementation date for Measure 114 for March 15, 2026. The bill has passed out of the full Ways and Means Committee and is headed for the House floor.

Tragically, this version also includes a harmful change: the removal of the 72-hour waiting period, a concession supported by Democratic Representative Paul Evans. Eliminating this commonsense safeguard will very likely contribute to continued high rates of firearm-related suicide.

HB 3076 A Oregon

State Licensing for Arms Dealers

On June 25, the Oregon Senate leadership allowed HB 3076--and our lives--to be traded away for other bills. CALL OREGON SENATE PRESIDENT WAGNER NOW TO TELL HIM HE SHOULD NEVER BARGAIN AWAY OUR SAFETY.  Senator Wagner's number is 503-986-1600. His email is Sen.RobWagner@oregonlegislature.gov.

Arms dealers in Oregon are required to have a federal license to be "in the business" of selling firearms. HB 3076-2 requires federally licensed firearms dealers operating in Oregon to also be licensed by the state of Oregon. Security, accountability, and reporting requirements are required.
