Lawmakers must take a share of responsibility for Sam Strahan’s death

By Penny Okamoto, Executive Director of Ceasefire Oregon

Sam Strahan, a Spokane high school student, was shot dead on September 12 because he was courageous enough to try to stop a shooter. Yet grown men and women cower in fear of the gun lobby and of a few ugly phone calls from a few gun nuts. Legislators, if you’ve ever voted against a firearm safety bill like mandating safe storage, remember Sam Strahan. You left all the responsibility to stop a school shooting to a teenage boy and he gave his life because you refused to act. #Remember Sam Strahan
