Summary of Oregon State Gun Laws

In the recently released state scorecards for gun violence prevention laws, Oregon gets a D+.

Oregon requires unlicensed sellers to perform background checks at gun shows before transferring any guns.

However, the state does not require background checks prior to the transfer of guns between private parties, prohibit the transfer or possession of assault weapons, license or significantly regulate gun dealers, or allow local governments to regulate guns.
