Louisiana Legislature Passes New Gun Safety Law

By Penny Okamoto, Executive Director of Ceasefire Oregon

On May 6th, the Louisiana legislature unanimously passed a bill barring gun possession for anyone convicted to domestic violence. The bill awaits Governor Bobby Jindal’s signature.

Recently Wisconsin passed a law requiring those convicted of domestic violence to surrender their guns. Washington State now requires people subject to a restraining order to turn in their guns. For women, domestic violence is one of the biggest risks associated with gun ownership.
