ATF Has Few Agents in Oregon To Enforce Gun Ban on Domestic Abusers

By Penny Okamoto, Executive Director of Ceasefire Oregon

A federal law gives agents with the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol, Firearms, and Explosives the power to make sure people convicted of domestic violence or facing restraining orders relinquish their guns.

But there are only 14 agents in the entire state of Oregon doing this. People are pushing for a new law that would give local law enforcement to make sure people relinquish their guns in domestic violence cases.
