S 1924 : House Background Checks for Ammunition Sales – Jaime’s Law

To prevent the purchase of ammunition by prohibited purchasers. The bill is named for Jaime Guttenberg who was fatally shot during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre.

June 20, 2019: Introduced by Senator Richard Blumenthal, [D-CT]

On March 3, 2019, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) introduced commonsense, bicameral legislation to implement instant universal background checks for the sale of gun ammunition. The Ammunition Background Check Act will be known as “Jaime’s Law” in honor of Jaime Guttenberg.
